Book Blogger Hop - Take 8

What is your favorite genre? (genre that you read the most) - Recommend a book!

This is a hard one because there are a couple genre's I just adore.  I think what I'll do is state all of them and then recommend one from each genre.

Thriller/Myster- Hands down, the queen of this genre is Tami Hoag. I first read her book when I was in high school and I was instantly hooked. I highly recommend Ashes to Ashes, the first book of hers I read.

Romance - While I love a good romance by Ms. Hoag, the keeper of all things romance for me is Catherine Coulter. I love love love her Bride series so I highly suggest you start with The Sherbrooke Bride.

Paranormal - Now this is way harder for me, I love so many books in this genre and so many authors.Unlike the other two where I kind of stick to just a couple authors, the PNR world I branch out all the time. I also find that I get hooked on an author and then by their 9th or 10th book I'm just worn out and don't find them as good as the originals. I know previously I talked about Richelle Mead on one of the other posts and I think I'm going to have to stick with her. I've read two of her series so far and I have never had that diminishing enjoyment with her works. I would recommend the Georgina Kincaid series and Succubus Blues is book one.

What books would you recommend for me to read?

  3. I don't usually read mysteries; the only writer I like in that genre is Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, creator of Sherlock Holmes. As for romance, I do have several writers, and have been meaning to start on Catherine Coulter, but just haven't gotten around to her... As for PNR, oh, I have many favorites! I want to read Richelle Mead's Vampire Academy series, and have several of the books, but again....haven't gotten around to it...AND I want to read your book, "Blood Purple"!! Middle Eastern vamps sounds like a great variation on the vampire mythos!

    Thanks for sharing!! :)

    2. Hey, Ashley!

I DEFINITELY prefer print books!!! I just can't stand the thought of reading an ENTIRE book on a screen.... To me a REAL book is one that I can hold in my hands. To be honest, I'd MUCH rather pay for a print book than get a free e-book. Oh, YEAH!!

Thanks for commenting back on my blog!! I have just ordered "Blood Purple" from Amazon, by the way -- in paperback, of course!! :)

    3. It let you order it early?? How crazy I hadn't put it into distribution yet, LOL Hmmmm haha. Well lucky you. The second book comes out on July 3rd. Once you read the first one you will want the second.

I love print books BUT I have no more room in my house for them. My Kindle Fire is my best friend, I love it's easy access to all my books.

  5. Thanks for stopping by my blog. You have a good answer. I like mystery but not paranormal. I used to read romance.

    1. Mystery was my first true book love. I adore the worlds that can be created with a good murder investigation.

    1. No idea how people can just love ONE genre, I have way to many books in my life to narrow it down like that.

  8. Wow, I haven't read Tami Hoag or Catherine Coulter since high school myself.

For a Thriller/Mystery, you might like Linda Fairstein. She writes a series of books about a New York City Special Victims Unit ADA, which she herself was once upon a time. Awesome series because it is so accurate. Called the Alexandra Cooper series.

Funnily enough Richelle Mead is one of the few "big name" PNR writers that I haven't read. Something just keeps holding me back from picking up her books.

    1. OOOO I love the sound of Linda Fairstein, I will keep that in mind!! I really loved Richelle Mead's series I have read, I know she writes a more popular one than the ones I listed I just don't have the time to invest in a new series when I am trying to focus on my own writings. Thanks for stopping by.
