A young curandera, a medicine woman, intent on uncovering the secrets of her past is forced into a life-and-death battle against an evil Archbishop. Set in the mystic land of Aztlan, “The Unholy” is a novel of destiny as healer and slayer. Native lore of dreams and visions, shape changing, and natural magic work to spin a neo-gothic web in which sadness and mystery lure the unsuspecting into a twilight realm of discovery and decision.

What a different style novel!
Here is the good and the bad about The Unholy. First it was very difficult to get 'into' the book. I liked the characters but I just wasn't sold. Now, about halfway through I needed to know how it ends and I am glad I read it. But I always get iffy about books that take that long to form a bond with.
Now the good -- the writing style and quality was very good. The story line felt solid to me and over all a good and pleasant reading experience.
I wish it felt faster in the beginning but I think if you are looking for a different sort of book to read then you should deff give this one a try.
I'm rating this a 3.5 on the Ashley meter.
