Book Blogger Take 11

What's your favorite Classic Novel

For me, this has to be 1984 by George Orwell. I really loved this book in high school and I still enjoy it to this day.

Another favorite, but I don't think its a 'classic' is The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster. This was the first real book I read. I love this book. I was about seven when I picked it up from a book store. I still have my original copy. For a birthday present, I gave the fifty year edition copy to my God-Daughter. She was turning the same age I was when I first read this book.

What about you?

  3. Hi, Ashley!

Would you believe I've never read "1984"? I HAVE read "Animal Farm", though, which I really liked. Brilliant satire! So I really must read "1984"! They're kind of "companion books", I think.

As for "The Phantom Tollbooth", I must have heard the title somewhere, since it does sound familiar. However, I had no idea what it was about until I read the plot synopsis on Amazon (a couple of minutes ago). It sounds enchanting! I can see why you still treasure it. And it was so sweet of you to give a copy of this book to your goddaughter, at precisely the same age that you were when you first read it!

Thanks so much for visiting my blog and commenting on my BBH post!! : )

    1. I read "Animal Farm" my senior year of High School - and we watched the movie. As always book was better.

I hope my GodDaughter appreciates it as much as I did, when she's older.

Seriously enjoy your blog Maria. Look forward to it each week.

  4. I have to be honest and say that I have never read 1984. Never read Animal Farm either, though I did very much enjoy the cartoon version (can you believe they showed that to us as little kids?)

    1. Was there a specific reason you haven't read them or just haven't gotten around to it yet?

  5. The Phantom Tollbooth is one of my childhood favorites! Even adults should be able to appreciate its wonderful charm and philosophical undertones. A great pick. Happy blog hop!
