Book Blogger Take 11
What's your favorite Classic Novel
For me, this has to be 1984 by George Orwell. I really loved this book in high school and I still enjoy it to this day.
Another favorite, but I don't think its a 'classic' is The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster. This was the first real book I read. I love this book. I was about seven when I picked it up from a book store. I still have my original copy. For a birthday present, I gave the fifty year edition copy to my God-Daughter. She was turning the same age I was when I first read this book.
What about you?

Trying Something New
Follow my blog with Bloglovin
It seems like everyday there is something new that comes through my mind. Lately I've had this idea for a new novel under my pen name Niki Becker. I thought I would give a small sample and I'd love some feedback. This writing style is slightly different than my norm and the genre is Erotica as opposed to Paranormal.
Thanks for the feedback! This is the first part of Chapter One

CHAPTER ONE
I loved
my job, even if it wasn’t for everyone. You wake up, get ready, plaster that
smile on your face and then head out to face the world. That mean cruel world
that loved to suck the youth right out of everyone. I wasn’t old by any means,
thirty three was still manageable. My whole life ahead of me. But I wasn’t a
spring chicken. The new girls came in, took clients and would high tail it when
they found Mr. Right now. But not us veterans. No, we were in this job for the
long haul.
He was still asleep, this one
always slept afterwards. Maybe he had to dream it out of his system. Pretend he
wasn’t as bad as the others. Lets face it, most politicians and business men
had one of our numbers on speed dial around here. We didn’t judge, we weren’t
paid to. We did however talk and if a john treated one of the young ones
inappropriately, we took care of him. Our sisterhood was elite, hard to get
into. But once you were here, you were a lifer. Even if you did make it out of
this hell hole.
I picked the money up off of
the table and left the hotel and counted the roll of twenties one by one while
walking down the streets. Some days it felt like I could do my job without the man’s help. Other days, like
yesterday, I was glad to have a partner in this. Maybe partner was too big of a word; it’s
probably more like, a guide post. You know, he tells me where to go, what to
do, and when to do it. But yesterday when I was attacked, he was like a
partner. Never left my side. One would argue that’s what the girls all pay him for,
others would say it’s the least he could do with the situations he puts us in.
Me, I’m just thankful that I don’t have to deal with it alone.
“Hey Charlie, he’s waiting for
you.”
As usual, I fake the smile I
flash at Stan and walk through the doors and into the back office. I pull the
roll of twenties out and toss them on his desk. Sixty percent to the house,
forty percent to my bank account.
“I got a special assignment
for you.”
“No can do, got a regular in
two hours. Can’t pass him up.”
“You can and you will, this
one wants to drop a grand just for one night with you. He asked for you
specifically.”
“You can’t have one of the
other girls do it? You know how I feel about my regulars.”
I watched him raise his hand
in the air, as if he was trying to silent me, “I’ve spoken, I’m sending Misty
to your regular, you’ll collect ten percent like a finder’s fee if you must.
This guy though wants you specifically. Here’s his location and the time. Dress
nice.”
“Nice? Since when do you want
your girls playing nice?”
“Since we were just offered a
grand for one measly fuck. Now go.”
He was holding out the piece
of paper at me, waving it. With a regretful sigh I take it and turn to leave
when I hear him say, “A grand Charlie, wear your best panties.”
“Yea, we’ll see.

Book Blogger Hop Take 10
How long have you been blogging?
What a simple question - I've been blogging 11 months, it will be one year on August 29th. This has been such an adventure!! I love the blogging world and community. They have welcomed me with open arms and shown me such support.
As an author, it can be intimidating putting yourself out there for the whole world to see, and to judge. Blogging has provided me with another outlet for my emotions and my ideas. I've developed a few loyal fans from my blog posts on my site and my guest blogs on other sites and I am so thankful that I decided to start this blogging journey.
It has taken me the full eleven months to have 100 followers (actually 106 with emails :) ) on my blog site and I have enjoyed every one of those new members. This is a completely different world than the Facebook or Twitter community that I am also reaching out too and I almost feel more so over here, 'these are my people!' Does that make sense? I feel that I have way more in common with other bloggers than some of the posts I see on Facebook.
Now I have started a second blog journey, with my good friend Jennifer. She and I have known each other since 2002, when we were at Sam Houston State University together. She and I have joked off and on for years about making a "Stalker" website. Mainly about our adventures (or fantasy adventures) with celebrities. We have a few good stories already to tell and a whole lot more to experience. It will be a different side of Ashley - this is more the Author, Book Lover, Reader Ashley. Over there - it will be the wild and crazy Ashley. So if you want to check us out (she's been blogging for a longggg time!) we are located here: Twisted Admiration.

Happy Release Day - BLOOD YELLOW!!!
Happy Release Day! That’s right; it’s time for
everyone to hit the bookstores and become best friends with the Algula race.
For those who are new to the Algula world and the Blood Series let me give a
quick rundown. Vampires from Lebanon, AKA the Algula, are chased out of their
home land, Zahle, Lebanon, and forced to settle in The New World in 1777.
Through the course of history, they end up taking residence in Colorado
Springs, Colorado. The terrain in Colorado Springs is similar to that of Zahle;
that’s why I picked it. Just a side note, everyone always asks ‘Why Colorado?’ so now you know.
In book one, Blood Purple you will
find Zayn, the king, and Nikole, the princess, battling their cousins, Derrik
and Dominic. In Blood Yellow, you
find Leigh, the eldest of the cousins, and her father Haydar, their uncle a
prince, at the focal of the fighting.
What makes this series unique, aside from the series being about
Middle Eastern vampires, is the paranormal aspect of this is a secondary issue
to what is going on inside of this world. This is a story about a brother and
sister, trying to find their way after their parents were murdered three
hundred plus years ago. They have to pick up the pieces of their race and come
together to save their people. The enemy is their own flesh and blood. Their
uncle and cousins who feel slighted that their line has been given the
responsibility of the throne.
You will find inside my writings that this series is a highly different
take on this particularly common genre. The focus of so much of this world is
on the relationships that people have among their own family. The strife that
all the characters must work through while yes, exaggerated for drama, are ones
that each of us can easily identify in ourselves. We can put ourselves in the
place of all of them, even the bad guys. You will dive into what makes the bad
guys bad. The heroes triumphs will be yours; their failures will be yours. You
will be transformed into an Algula and will get to experience first-hand what
it’s like to be descended from the Gods.
In celebration of my Sequel Blood
Yellow finally making its way onto the shelves. I am hosting a giveaway. If you enter. you
